Michael Vick Insists Jail Made Him Better Man, Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Now Working With Juvenile Delinquents

Michael Vick is insisting all of his recent charity work is not a publicity stunt merely aimed at reshaping his besmirched image, but instead he is a truly changed man and serving a two year prison stint for running a high-profile dog fighting ring has much to do with it.

On the heels of appearing at a Team Freedom Outreach event earlier this week, the Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback told TMZ  “sometimes it takes this. For a person to go through certain hardships to realize what their purpose really is.”

For Vick, it starts with Team Freedom, a non-profit volunteer organization that recruits Christian advocates to play sports with children who are incarcerated. The program also encourages one on one interaction between volunteers and impacted youth being held in Detention Centers across the entire state of Georgia.

Our vision is to create a movement of Christian men impacting the lives of young boys through recreation and one on one visitation, “organizers note on their website.

And to that end, Vick seems willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. Earlier this month, he traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Rep. John Lewis and advocate on behalf of the program.

“I think God placed it on my heart when I was incarcerated to come out and be the person I can be and to help as many people as I can help,” he told TMZ.
