Brandon Jennings At Odds With Management, Wants Out In Milwaukee

Milwaukee Bucks free agent guard Brandon Jennings already has one foot out the door and does not want to return to the team next season, according to The Sporting News.

Jennings, a restricted free agent, is at odds with management over what his worth should be. He can sign with another team, but the Bucks have the right to match any offer.

The way things have been going over the last several days that hardly seems a given. According to the Sporting News, teams initially shied away from Jennings, thinking the Bucks were prepared to match any offer for him.

But as Jennings has demanded to be paid in the same range as fellow 2009 draft class guards Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson and Jrue Holiday, the divide between him and management has grown steeper. The aforementioned signed deals in the range of $41 to $48 million over four years.

Just last week, the Bucks offered Atlanta point guard Jeff Teague a four year deal for $32 million, but the Hawks have already matched that offer. Previously, Milwaukee also signed free agent guard O.J. Mayo.

Assuming they can’t agree on a deal, the options for the two sides are limited. As a restricted free agent, Jennings has the right to sign the Bucks’ qualifying offer, which is set by the collective bargaining agreement at $4.5 million. That would tie him to the team for next season, after which he would again be considered a free agent and able to return to the open market.
