Andrew Bynum Shooting For Return To All-Star Form With Cleveland Cavaliers

Newly signed Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum not only expects to be back on the court for opening night but back to the All-Star form he reached during the last season he played.

Bynum signed a two-year, $24 million incentive laden-deal with the Cavs earlier this week and, according to agent David Lee, is now hard-at-work in making certain he proves well worth the investment.

“His expectation is to be nothing less than an All-Star next year,” Lee told the Akron Beacon Journal. “Now I don’t know if anybody wants to say that out loud because there’s always a hesitancy to put pressure on him. But in his mind, absolutely. He doesn’t see any reason why not.”

After also being pursued by the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks, Bynum settled on the Cavs largely based on the excitement generated by the chance to play with young, up-and-coming point guard Kyrie Irving.

Bynum sat out the entire season last year with Philadelphia nursing his bad knees back to health. Lee would have you believe that episode is now completely behind him.

“I don’t think the knees are going to be a prohibitive issue,” he told the Beacon Journal.  “I think last year was an aberration for a whole host of reasons.”
