Hard-nosed hockey fans may need to look away.

The Chicago Blackhawks tweeted a photo of world-famous pop crooner Justin Bieber, reviled by a large segment of hockey fans, posing with the world's most famous trophy, the Stanley Cup, with a Bieber Blackhawks jersey hanging in the background.

The Blackhawks Twitter account posted the photo with the caption, "The Biebs meets THE CUP!!!!"

The Canadian-born singer is an admitted hockey fan, although his attachment to the Blackhawks is questionable. It is also not the first time the Biebs has "met" the Cup. Three years ago a much younger-looking Bieber posed for several photo's with Lord Stanley's oversized drinking apparatus in an NHL promotional tour.

A Chicago fan unhappy with Bieber's proximity to the prized Cup expressed his displeasure with a meme depicting Bieber's apparently fickle devotion to a bevy on NHL squads. The picture shows Bieber donning the caps of the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Boston Bruins before the large photo of Bieber with the Stanley Cup. The text of the meme reads, "Wings, Kings, Bruins. You already ruined music, stop ruining the NHL."

Fan reaction was vitriolic on Twitter. Examples of some upset tweets are:

"If I see one more picture of bieber touching the cup I might just cut my own jugular #embarrassing"

And this is why I will kick the crap out of Justin Bieber! You do not touch the cup! You don't deserve to touch it!"

"Bieber takin a pic w the cup and gettin a personalized blackhawks jersey is complete garbage. Where did your bruins flat brim go?"

Whether or not Bieber is allowed to pose with the Stanley Cup, Blackhawks fans should lay off the team. They were the top team in the NHL from essentially start to finish, winning the Cup with one of the most exciting finished in NHL history.

Chicago was down 2-1 with a mere 76 seconds left on the clock, before shocking the Boston Bruins and their stud goaltender Tuukka Rask with back-to-back goals, sealing their fate.
