Scottie Pippen Fight Update: 911 Dispatcher Says Chicago Bulls Legend Fled Scene After Knocking Out Fan, Investigation Ongoing

TMZ is reporting 911 tape shows Hall of Fame forward Scottie Pippen fled the scene after knocking out an autograph seeking fan outside a Malibu eatery late last month.

An emergency responder speaks with a 911 dispatcher during the call, at which time the dispatcher states “suspect fled” leaving the 50-something year-old man sprawled unconscious in the Nobu parking lot. The incident was also described as an assault.

Pippen has since spoken with police and told investigators the man spit on him and called him the N-word after Pippen emerged from the restaurant and declined his autograph request. Pippen was with his family at the time, and carrying his four-year-old daughter.

Los Angeles County Sheriffs have described the ongoing investigation as “complicated” and stress that Pippen has been totally “cooperative” in their probe. “We have to interview everybody to find out what happened,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told USA Today.

After being knocked out cold, the still unidentified man was later hospitalized and treated for a broken tooth, swollen mouth and head injury. When he was named as a suspect, Pippen, 47, voluntarily talked to police during which time he gave his version of events.

Several witnesses have also told the police the fan appeared intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Now a special advisor for the Bulls, Pippen won six NBA titles with Michael Jordan and the Bulls, and in 1996, was named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.
