The prosecution's case against former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez in the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd was bolstered recently, thanks to evidence uncovered in a secret flophouse rented by the former NFL star, according to reports.
The second man arrested in connection with Lloyd's slaying, Carlos Ortiz, reportedly pointed Massachusetts police in the direction of the hidden apartment. Inside the flophouse, authorities found a red baseball cap with "Society" written on it, as well as a white hooded sweatshirt; Hernandez was seen wearing both items the night of Lloyd's murder.
The authorities also found .45-caliber ammunition, matching the bullets that riddled Lloyd's body on the night he was shot to death.
Search warrants say Ortiz told police, "Hernandez has a second place that not many people know about."
Since Hernandez's arrest, stories have poured in about past instances of violence involving the troubled 23-year-old tight end, dating all the way back to his freshman year of college at the University of Florida. In 2007, Hernandez allegedly slugged a bar employee who insisted he pay for two alcoholic drinks he consumed while underage, rupturing the man's eardrum and inspiring police to call for felony assault charges.
Later in his college career he was questioned, along with teammate and NFL wide receiver Reggie Nelson in the shooting of two men inside a stopped car. Another man has accused Hernandez of shooting him in the face after leaving a Miami nightclub in February, causing him to lose the use of his right eye.
Also, he's being investigated in a double murder that took place in Massachusetts in 2012, one that some members of law enforcement believe played a role in the execution of Lloyd. Some believe that Lloyd had information about Hernandez's involvement in the 2012 twin killing, and Hernandez killed Lloyd in an effort to silence him.
