An earthquake rattled Washington state Wednesday night at about 7:45 p.m., registering as a 4.3 magnitude quake that has caused no deaths or reported damage, according to reports.
Kaitlyn Griffith, a King 5 Facebook page user, wrote "We really felt it here in Leavenworth. Felt like our house was being bulldozed." Another Leavenworth user left a message describing their experience, writing, Wiggle, jiggle and shake with a popping sound that sounded like someone slapped the house."
According to the U.S. Geological Society, this earthquake ran about 6.33 miles deep, 25.9 miles northwest of Entiat and 33 miles northwest of Wenatchee. After the initial rumbling, a 2.1 magnitude aftershock rattled Washington for the second time, prompting the USGS to post on their Facebook page, "Did you feel it?" The USGS termed the shaking of the earthquake "light."
Wednesday night's earthquake comes on the heels of another earth-rattler that hit Oklahoma on Tuesday. That one had a magnitude of 3.0, and was followed up by a second, quake at 3:30 a.m. this morning. The first one hit southwest of Tuttle in Grady County, according to NewsOK.com. The one felt today was a slightly larger 3.4 magnitude earthquake, that struck two miles southeast of Harrah.
Oklahoma has had a real run of bad luck when it comes to Mother Nature's angry whims. They were hit by severe tornadoes recently, and suffered five small earthquakes in April, according to reports.
The April Oklahoma earthquake strikes were as follows: 3.0 in Chandler, 4.3 in Luther, 2.8 in Boley, 3.3 in Luther, and a fifth, 4.2 magnitude quake in Luther again. Minor damage was caused by those April earth movements.
