Two clubs chasing Copa Libertadores glory will do battle today in a match between Juan Aurich and River Plate. The group-stage clash scheduled for 9:15 p.m. ET will be held at the Estadio Elias Aguirre in Chiclayo, Peru and can be live streamed here free. Additional TV coverage can be found on Fox Deportes.
What They're Saying
Juan Aurich manager Roberto Mosquera (via Canchallena): "Sometimes, artificial turf doesn't allow you to touch the ball because it feels like there's a bunny inside it and it can go anywhere. It's even difficult for us. We train once a week in the stadium. That's it. It's very difficult to get used to it. I have to make sure I don't kill my players with injuries."
River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo (via Clarin): "We need to win because we need to recover the points we've lost in the first games. Especially since we have three more [matches]. Thursday's game is very important to us. I can't confirm [a lineup] because I'm still evaluating things. We're going to see who are the best available."
Tactical Preview
Player to Watch: River Plate's Teofilo Gutierrez remains the club's primary attacking threat. In three league appearances, the 29-year-old has a club-best three goals. He'll look to continue his scoring form on the road on Thursday, especially against a lackluster Juan Aurich side.
Juan Aurich's Projected Lineup (4-4-2): Gallese; Cuba, Ramos, Gambetta, Céspedes; Ubierna, Vílchez, Rojas, Pacheco; Tejada, Valoyes
River Plate's Projected Lineup (4-4-2 Diamond): Barovero; Mercado, Maidana, Mori, Vangioni; Sánchez, Kranevitter, Rojas, Pisculichi; Mora, Gutiérrez
