A Texas teenager, 14-year-old Miguel Martinez, is dead after impaling himself on a statue of a bull on the Texas Tech University campus early Saturday morning during a game of hide-and-seek gone wrong, according to reports.
Martinez was apparently running on the campus with some of his friends in the presence of two adults when he accidentally ran into the statue. The horn of the bull went into Martinez' chest, killing him.

Martinez' mother, Judith Leseburg told NBC, "He just happened to trip over one of the lights. I guess he lost his balance and he went straight down on one of the horns. It's hard for all of us. No mother expects this to happen to their child."
His friend Jeremy, with whom Martinez was horsing around said, "I just laid there beside him. I put my jacket over him and just held him tight and told him I loved him," Jeremy said. "He was like a big brother to me."
Martinez and his friends were running around on the grounds of the National Ranching Heritage Museum, which, according to its website, is dedicated to "preserving and interpreting the history of ranching in North America," as well as deal with modern day issues facing ranchers.
Among the many things visitors to the Ranch Museum can take in are historic windmills, barns, corrals, as well as older equipment that forever changed the ranching profession, such as locomotive trains. It is also a fine place to learn about cabin architecture and ranch headquarters buildings.
The museum is open to all from Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and the museum is closed on all Texas Tech University holidays, according to the website.
