Aaron Hernandez Murder Trial LIVE STREAM FREE Day 23: DNA On Marijuana Cigarette Links Hernandez To Odin Lloyd Crime Scene?

Aaron Hernandez, the ex-New England Patriots star tight end who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of Odin Lloyd, and pulling the trigger in his shooting death, will be back in court again today at 9:00 a.m. Follow Day 23 of the court proceedings free here.

On Friday a crime lab scientist testified that DNA found on a marijuana cigarette near Lloyd’s body matches Hernandez’s. That’s certainly bad news for the former Patriot, who has been said to frequently smoke marijuana with Lloyd, even nicknaming him the “blunt master” for his talent at rolling marijuana for the pair to smoke.

"I did a comparison between the profile I deduced and the profile of Aaron Hernandez," Diane Fife Biagiotti said. "I found that the profile from Aaron Hernandez matched the deduced DNA profile." She placed the chances of the DNA belonging to someone other than Hernandez at “one in quadrillion.”

Other parts of Biagiotti’s testimony has been challenged by Hernandez’s attorneys. She testified that Hernandez’s DNA was found on a shell casing retrieved from a rental car he returned the day after Lloyd’s killing, but the defense claimed it may have been transferred to the casing from a piece of blue chewing gum that had been stuck to it. Hernandez was seen on video surveillance the night of Lloyd’s shooting buying blue gum from a gas station.

"Would you agree with me, Ms. Biagiotti, that there is a high likelihood that the DNA contained in the saliva on a chewed blue chewing gum would be transferred to that shell casing?" Hernandez attorney James Sultan asked.

"Yes, I would agree with that," Biagiotti said, while noting that finding testable amounts of DNA on shell casings is extremely uncommon.
