Report: Chris Paul Angry L.A. Clippers Can't Land Doc Rivers

The Los Angeles Clippers' failed pursuits in landing coach Doc Rivers may be starting to have the one effect they fear most.

According to Yahoo! Sports, not only is star, free-agent guard Chris Paul starting to grow increasingly leery over management’s shortcomings, he may now be taking it as yet another sign of their longtime and ongoing  ineptness.

After weeks of speculation he may be headed west, Rivers announced he no longer considers the Clippers an option and instead will spend the next few days contemplating if he will return to coach the Boston Celtics again next season.

Frustrated over compensation negotiations, Yahoo! reports that both Rivers and Celtics general manager Danny Ainge abandoned talks late Friday with no agreement in sight. Reports are Ainge was seeking at least a first-round draft pick from the Clippers, who countered with offers of a future second-round selection.

Within league circles, there’s also growing speculation notoriously thrifty Clippers owner Donald Sterling would ever make good on the five-year, $35 million pact he had reportedly negotiated with Rivers.

Rivers, who was also rumored to be hoping to bring longtime Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce with him to L.A., is now expected to decide on his Boston future by Monday, according to Yahoo! He has three-years and $21 million left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Paul reportedly will have to settle from among the trio of Lionel Hollins, Brian Shaw and Byron Scott if he plans to return to the Clips.
