Dwyane Wade Hoping To Avoid Knee Surgery After NBA Finals Triumph

After playing through much of the playoffs with an injury to his right knee far more serious than what team officials ever admitted, Dwyane Wade is now hopeful he will be able to skip off-season surgery.

“Hopefully, no surgery,” Wade told Yahoo! Sports of his deep bone bruise. “Treatments, I hope. A lot of rest.”

After surviving the San Antonio Spurs in a classic seven-game series to win their second straight NBA title, in the eyes of their many adoring fans ,Wade and his mates are seemingly free to do whatever they please.

Wade told Yahoo! he never seriously considered taking any time off during the Heat’s playoff run and when it came time for Game 7, really understood he needed to gut things out.

“I talked to my knees today,” he joked to reporters. “We had a conversation. I told them, listen, both you guys, if you can give me one great game, I’ll give you a great summer.”

Wade played and often starred knowing, as head coach Erik Spoelstra admitted, “his knees won’t get any better unless you take time off. We know what he was dealing with,” Spoelstra added. “He should be commended for being out there, doing whatever it takes.”

In fact, team officials told the Sporting News Wade bumped knees with Manu Ginobili during Game 6, resulting in his other knee swelling up even more than the one he was having all the trouble with.

Wade now says he will take extended time off this summer to nurse all his bumps and bruises. Some are even speculated he may even travel to German to receive acupuncture treatment similar to that Kobe Bryant received there just last summer.
