Allen Iverson Says He Never Kidnapped Kids, Will Not Be Jailed

Former NBA star Allen Iverson is no longer facing accusations that he kidnapped his five children and, in fact, returned them to ex-wife nearly a week ago, according to TMZ.

After getting word of such accusations, the website reports Iverson went before a Fulton County, Ga. judge last week where he explained to the court that not only was he not holding his kids against their will, their mom was fully aware of where the hotel they were staying in was located and had full access to it.

TMZ also reports that Tawanna Iverson testified she could have picked up the children, ranging in age from 3 to 16, at any time, but simply did not want to drive the estimated 45 minutes from her home required to do so.

In evaluating the testimony given by both sides, the judge decided to ignore Tawanna Iverson’s demands that her ex-husband be thrown in jail and instead simply arranged for the kids to be turned over to her. Just a week before, Tawanna Iverson had also sought to have the former league MVP jailed amid claims he was more than $40,000 behind in court-ordered child support.

Despite all the apparent acrimony, TMZ also reports sources the one-time couple have now somehow managed to smooth out some of their differences and Iverson will be spending more private time with his children.
