Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao: MGM Grand Hinting Super Fight Is Going To Happen?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have made no annoncements about their proposed super fight being official, but the MGM Grand, the Las Vegas casino that has been home to Mayweather's last 10 fights, is hinting that boxing fans' dreams may finally come true.

During a recent conference call MGM Grand chairman James Murren said "We hope it's a big, big fight. If it is the fight we hope it is, then it is the biggest fight."

Mayweather has already reserved May 2 for his next fight, without naming an opponent. While many signs point to the fight being near, such as multiple face-to-face meetings between the two fighters, numerous leaked reports, and Pacquiao's own comments Monday.

"(The fight) is near. The negotiations are nearly finished," Pacquiao said Monday. "We agreed that this fight has to happen. We are ironing out the kinks. He (Mayweather) said he wants the fight to push through."

For now, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach is operating as if Pacquiao will take on Mayweather in May, and is preparing a game plan for the Filipino icon.

"I honestly feel the fight is going to happen," Roach told SecondsOut. "Floyd has talked on TV twice at the basketball game, which is very unusual. Bob Arum wants the fight, I want the fight and Manny wants the fight; a lot of good names want this fight and usually when these high people want it, they get it."

Roach said he's been doing lots of homework on Mayweather's defense, which has so far been impregnable to 47 straight foes, and thinks he can devise a plan to exploit it.

"I've done some research on Floyd and on sparring partners. This is going to be the biggest challenge ever but I think my guy can pull it off but it wont be easy. It's a very tactical fight and I have to come up with a great game plan."
