Johnny Manziel, the only freshman in college football history to snag a Heisman Trophy, still has a long way to go in terms of conducting himself properly on social media.
The sophomore quarterback of the Texas A&M Aggies took to Twitter after some kind of unfortunate incident with the following message: "Bull***t like tonight is the reason I can't wait to leave college station...whenever that may be."
His message was quickly deleted, but the internet never forgets. Manziel is a prodigious talent on the field, but he has found himself in hot water several times off of it. It's hard to make too much of his missteps, owing to the fact that he's a college sophomore, but university brass and the Aggies' coaching staff likely want him to do a better job of being a leader.
Manziel later tweeted a message that did not get deleted that read, "Don't ever forget that I love A&M with all of my heart, but please please walk a day in my shoes."
Manziel is without question the highest-profile athlete in college football, and possibly in all college sports. His numbers on the field last season were unbelievable, without the added caveat of him being a freshman.
Manziel threw for 3,706 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 68 percent of his passes. He was a dual threat too, rushing 201 times for 1,401 yards and 21 touchdowns. To recap, he combined for 5,107 total yards, and a whopping 47 touchdowns.
Manziel also engineered an upset of top-ranked Alabama, who went on to demolish the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the BCS National Championship.
If Manziel's sophomore season matches or exceeds his brilliant freshman campaign, he could get his wish of leaving College Station soon enough by entering the NFL Draft. With his numbers, it's hard to imagine him not being a high pick.
