Wendy's Probing Photo Of Worker Eating Ice Cream Straight From Machine

Wendy’s restaurant officials are investigating the case of an employee captured eating soft serve ice cream directly from one of the machines used to make the company’s popular Frosty deserts.

The photo surfaced on Wednesday, where someone posted it on the Reddit web site under the heading: “I was going to buy a Frosty from Wendy’s until I saw an employee do this.”

“If true, this is totally inexcusable,” company spokesman Bob Bertini told The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We are investigating and will take action,” he added in a statement given to the paper.

The Journal Sentinel also reports that a commenter on the Reddit web site observed the photo appears to have been taken from behind the counter, and thus the photographer may have been a fellow employee.

The Wendy's episode comes just days after another fast food worker sent shocks through the industry when he was digitally captured licking a stack of taco shells at a California-based Taco Bell restaurant. Though company officials later determined the shells were destined for the trash bin, they still immediately terminated the worker.

Taco Bell officials also claimed the shells in question were specifically provided to workers to practice making the company’s new Cool Ranch Tacos and were never intended to be sold.
