The New York Mets are hoping the rain goes away today, so they can treat their fans to one of the better pitching matchups of the season. The Mets will throw Matt Harvey (5-0, 2.10 ERA) against Adam Wainwright (9-3, 2.34 ERA) of the St. Louis Cardinals in the finale of a three-game set. The game can be live streamed here. Mets fans can listen to the game on 101.9 WFAN FM, while Cardinals fans can tune in to KMOX 1120.

While Harvey has been excellent all year, he has not had much help from the Mets' hitters. Harvey has five wins, but has gotten a no-decision in six quality starts, which is defined as a six-inning start in which the pitcher surrenders three earned runs or less. He has yet to give up more than four runs in any outing, but should be tested by St. Louis.

Wainwright, meanwhile, is staking his claim as the best starter in baseball right now. He has two shutouts on his ledger already, matching career his career high which was set in 2011 and matched last season. He's posted a strikeout per nine of 8.5, and his strikeout to walk ratio is an absurd 13.00. In 96 innings of work, Wainwright has only issued seven free passes.

That's bad news for the offensively challenged Mets, who recently demoted first baseman Ike Davis to Triple A. However, there's a glimmer of hope. Wainwright's struggled in his career against the Mets, going 1-4 with a 7.29 ERA.

On May 16th, Wainwright suffered one of his three losses against the Mets. The Cardinals ace pitched six innings and gave up four runs, three of which were earned. He struck out eight batters and walked only one, but St. Louis fell 5-3.

Harvey was pulled from his last start with a back issue but it has since been cleared up. The only thing Mets manager Terry Collins is worried about is rain. "It doesn't look good, I know that," Collins said. "I don't think anybody in baseball has gone through what we've gone through this year.
