Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Amir Khan Believes Super Fight 'Will Never Happen' [VIDEO]

British welterweight boxer Amir Khan has spoken again on the matter of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, the proposed super fight that has been talked about since the mid-2000s but has yet to materialize. Khan doesn’t expect to see the fight happen, but isn’t blaming the fighters.

“Honestly that fight will never happen, in my opinion,” Khan said. “I spoke to Manny Pacquiao and, obviously, we speak to Mayweather and his team. I can't really see that fight happening, there is too much politics with that fight. There's different promotions teams and different management teams—I don't think they will let that fight happen.”

Khan’s suspicions appear to be backed up by the reporting of Yahoo! writer Kevin Iole, “There are substantial issues to be resolved between Showtime, which has Mayweather under contract, and HBO, which has an exclusive deal with Pacquiao.

“An impasse in those talks is HBO's insistence on being able to show the replay of the pay-per-view, one source said.”

Mayweather is being treated as the A-side of the fight per Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz, and Mayweather belongs to Showtime. HBO has been accused of standing as an obstacle to the super fight, but they took to Twitter to try and dispel that notion.

Aside from doubting the fight will ever come to fruition, Khan reiterated his willingness to fight either Mayweather or Pacquiao in his next fight. It’s believed that he’s more likely to fight Pacquiao, with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto serving as a possible plan B for Mayweather.

“If it does happen, I'm a big boxing fan and I would love to see it. I want either one of those guys, if they are fighting each other then I can't argue because I would love to see that fight like everyone else. It's a fight I've always waited for but it's taken so long that I can't see it happening,” Khan said.
