Retired basketball star Grant Hill, husband of R&B crooner Tamia, was in the house at Highline Ballroom in New York City Sunday night supporting his wife for a select crowd numbering a few hundred.

New York Knicks' forward Amar'e Stoudemire was in the house as well, making for an oft-injured but supremely talented audience. Tamia shouted out her husband during the performance, informing the crowd that, "We're celebrating almost 15 years of marriage."

Tamia was nominated for two Grammy awards this year for her fifth album Beautiful Surprise. Popular hits in the past for Tamia are Stranger In My House, Imagination, I'm So Into You, and Officially Missing You.

Her husband, Hill, should have lots of time to see her perform in future shows, as the 40-year-old basketball star announced his retirement after the Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated from the 2013 playoffs.

Hill played for 18 seasons in the NBA, but a near-certain Hall of Fame career was derailed by numerous injuries to his ankles. Over the first six years of his career, Hill averaged 21.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists per night.

After signing a large contract with the Orlando Magic, injuries set in for the former Duke Blue Devil and Detroit Pistons star. From 2000-2003, Hill only managed to play in 47 games, ruining the devastating pairing with Tracy McGrady that Orlando's front office had planned.

In 2005-2006, Hill injured his ankles again and played in just 17 games. Following that injury it looked like his time in the NBA was finished, but from 2006 until he retired Hill transformed into a veteran model of health. He also served as a crucial veteran leader for the Phoenix Suns from 2007 to 2012 before latching on with the Clippers for his final season.

Hill ends his career averaging 16.7 points, six rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
