The Seattle Seahawks' defense is best known for it's hard-hitting, shutdown secondary which is nicknamed the "Legion of Boom." Ahead of Super Bowl XLIX though two key members of the secondary, cornerback Richard Sherman and safety Earl Thomas, will be less than 100 percent.
Because of that, former Seahawk and current Patriot cornerback Brandon Browner is telling his new mates to target the Legion's injuries.
But at the end of the day, this is about the Super Bowl," Browner said. "I'm gonna tell my teammates, 'Go hit that elbow. Go hit that shoulder. Most definitely. Try to break it if you can.' You're gonna be my best friend after the game, but I know you want the Super Bowl just as bad as I do."
Former Seahawks teammate K.J. Wright had a strong response to Browner's comments.
"We don't go out there and try to hurt guys. And I don't care if they do have an injury. We're not going out there trying to hurt people, and especially guys you're close to. If he said that, it's fine, but that's not our main focus," Wright said.
"If you know a player's injured, you don't try to re-hurt him. You just try to play ball and play hard. But as far as going out there and targeting certain areas, that's unacceptable and shouldn't be in football."
Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, who shared the secondary with Browner last year, shrugged it off more than Wright did.
I mean, that's BB. He ain't gonna go too far, but shoot, we've got BB too. We know him too. We know him very well. We're going to go after him, too. It's going to be a fun game. So tell him Bobby said he's coming after him," Chancellor said.
"If somebody knows you're weak in an area, they're definitely going to try and exploit it. But I don't think he meant it in a malicious way or trying to hurt Sherm by any means. It's just competing. It's a competitive nature."
