The Pittsburgh Penguins, who headed into the NHL Eastern Conference Finals as the top seed, will try to avoid a nearly insurmountable 3-0 series deficit tonight when they face the Boston Bruins at TD Garden in Boston. The puck drops at 8:00 p.m. tonight, and can be seen on NBC Sports Network or live streamed here. Penguins fans can hear the action on 105.9 The X, while Bruins fans can tune in to 98.5 The Sports Hub.
While the Penguins' normally vicious offense has been rather tame through the first two games, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma is more concerned with his team's inability to keep Boston off the scoreboard.
"Right now, we're not liking the picture, down 0-2. They're in control," Bylsma said. "I don't think we're frustrated by the fact that we haven't scored as much as (the fact that) they're getting up leads, especially in Game 2."
Tomas Vokoun, who has been lit up in both games and was pulled in the first period of Game 2 concurred, saying, "We gave up the first goal both games and, from there, everyone is trying to do it on their own. it's just not going to work." Bylsma has not yet announced whether Vokoun or Marc-Andre Fleury will start Game 3.
Penguins center and leader Sidney Crosby, who has been mocked this series for his unhappiness with the officiating, has shown frustration with Pittsburgh's inability to get on track, as well as his own ineffectiveness.
"I didn't do anything, didn't change anything. It felt like every time we had a puck that was bouncing, we ended up giving it away," Crosby said. "We gave them the game. We didn't really do anything to give ourselves a chance to win."
Still, Boston's David Krejci is remaining focused and determined despite his team's commanding lead and home ice advantage. "We're going to have to play even better than we did because they're going to be desperate."
