Amir Khan Next Fight: Floyd Mayweather 'Running Scared,' Manny Pacquiao Fight Could Happen In Dubai

Big moves are being made regarding boxing's biggest fights. Canelo Alvarez has cut off talks with Miguel Cotto, opening the door for a monkey wrench to be thrown in the plans of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao. If the latter fight doesn't get made, British fighter Amir Khan is willing to take on Pacquiao.

Khan accused Mayweather of "running scared," and proposed a big fight with Pacquiao take place in Dubai.

"Boxing is business and this would be a big fight. I like Freddie and I like Manny but it would be a huge fight that could possibly happen in Dubai. We need to have a big fight in the UAE and this could be it," Khan said before zinging "Money" Mayweather.

"I don't know why Floyd won't fight me. Is he running scared? It can't be that he won't take enough money because look what we would bring to the table."

Khan continued to blast the pound-for-pound champ and predicted the Pacquiao fight would fall through as well because Mayweather refuses to fight opponents he views as real threats to the zero in his loss column.

"There are no more excuses and I don't even see his fight with Pacquiao happening as Floyd clearly wants to avoid the guys that could give him problems."

If the Pacquiao plans fall through, speculation is growing that Cotto, the WBC middleweight champion, would be the fallback for Mayweather instead of Khan. Cotto not only has a title, he is a more established name in boxing, and actually fought competitively vs. Mayweather in 2012.

Since then Cotto's only improved his stock. He lost his next bout to Austin Trout, but added Freddie Roach as his trainer and demolished his next two opponents en route to winning his belt vs. Sergio Martinez.
