Arsene Wenger played down reports suggesting he was in talks with the Arsenal board over a new contract.
Wenger, who will see his current deal expire at the end of the 2013-14 season, said it was too soon to be talking about a new deal and he was just interested in concentrating on the present.
"I have two years to go," Wenger told reporters. "What is important for me is Southampton (on Saturday) and I think I've shown my commitment to this club in the past.
"I'm an Arsenal man and I think I've always shown that. I have to consider if I do well or not. If I don't do well, I have to consider my future.
"I've been at the club long enough to have confidence in the people I work with. But I will assess my own performances and then make a decision. At the moment we are not there.
"Two years is a long time in my job. I just want to do well for the club as long as I can and accept all the rest.
"At the moment I am not in the mood to think about the long-term future. We want to do well this season, that's all."
The Frenchman, who will turn 63 next month, does not know how long he will be able to continue at the top level. "I don't know. I have to consider that at my age, you always have to assess if you have the fitness, the desire, the commitment that this job demands," he added. "Then of course you have to make your decisions.
"I hope I will be lucid enough and intelligent enough to assess my performance well. I just want to do well. I want to do well every day and I want to work every day."
