Tony Parker: Spurs Point Guard In Running Feud With Memphis Chef

Tony Parker is embroiled in a running feud with a top Memphis chef almost as intense as the games against the Grizzlies.

In all began when Chef Kelly English claimed he denied the Spurs star guard service at his English Restaurant Iris eatery the night before Game 3 because he didn’t have a reservation, according to Yahoo!  English, diehard Grizzlies fans who has the team’s “Grit, Grind,” slogan written on his right arm in his Twitter profile picture, then took to his social page to spread word of the episode.

But Parker now tells Yahoo! none of that ever happened and he’s never even visited the restaurant. He further insists on the night in question, he ate room service dinner in hotel room while watching Game 2 of the Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers Eastern Conference finals series.

"I don't know what is going on with that, man," Parker told Yahoo! prior to the Spurs' practice on Sunday. "I did not do that. Can you stop doing promos? Is that a new way of doing promos? That's a new way of doing promotion now, using my name? I did not do that."

Parker maintains he only heard of the story Saturday morning. He also insisted he rarely eats at restaurants while on the road with the Spurs out of fear that an opposing fan in the kitchen might do something to his order.

The Spurs lead the Grizzlies 3-0 heading into Game 4 with Parker responsible for most of the damage. But on Sunday, all that seemed on his mind was setting the record straight.

"I stayed in my hotel room, never called or anything," he told Yahoo! “I don't know why you keep fueling that. I guess he's going to have a lot of people now going to his restaurant because you guys keep talking about it. It's a great way to promote it with a fake reservation."
