Two of college football's most powerful programs go head-to-head on Tuesday afternoon in a sure-to-be memorable Music City Bowl match-up. It's the Notre Dame Fighting Irish against Les Miles' LSU Tigers, and you can catch a free live stream of the action RIGHT HERE.
ND head coach Brian Kelly told reporters that he was planning on utilizing a two-quarterback attack, a decision made largely in part due to junior QB Everett Golson's turnover-plagued season. Now word comes that Kelly has opted to start the freshman, Malik Zaire, at the position this afternoon. Golson will presumably get some snaps throughout of the contest, but if Zaire performs well he may lock up the starting job for 2015.
Zaire won't have it easy though. One might say he's being thrown to the Tigers, literally. LSU's defense was the best in the vaunted SEC, and their unit is ranked third nationally in opponent's scoring.
LSU has four losses on the season, but two of them came against two number one ranked squads in Mississippi State and Alabama, and were by a combined 12 points.
The head-to-head coaching comparison is another match-up to keep an eye on. LSU's Les Miles debunked speculation this month that he was considering the University of Michigan job. The Irish's Kelly, however, has stayed mum on his future; many suspect he'll be a coaching candidate for open NFL vacancies this winter.
PREDICTION: LSU 24, ND 13
