The Atlanta Falcons have a bright future ahead of them with a young, talented nucleus of Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White; soon they will have a bright, brand spanking new stadium, according to reports. The new stadium will be of the multi-purpose variety and will have a retractable roof.

NFL owners have agreed to loan the Falcons $200 million to help finance the construction of a new stadium that could cost up to $1 billion to build. Another $200 million of the money to construct the stadium will come from public bonds.

Of the owner's decision to help fund the new stadium, Blank said "The NFL has supported new stadium construction through various means for decades. Our club owners understand that investments ... are important to the long-term strength of the league, and we thank them for their support. We are pleased with the outcome of today's vote, and we look forward to continued progress in designing and constructing the new multi-purpose stadium over the next four years. We, along with our City of Atlanta and State of Georgia partners, are excited to participate in a project that will benefit the city and state for many years to come."

He also called the decision an "important milestone."

According to Blank, the designing and building of the new stadium will be a four-year project and the team expects to open the 2017 season in the new digs. Once the new stadium is ready, the Georgia Dome, which was built in 1992 and has housed the Atlanta Falcons since its inception, will be demolished.

While their off-field prospects are improving, the current on-field product is getting better as well. Fresh off an NFC Championship game appearance, the Falcons have added Rams running back Steven Jackson to their cache of weaponry. The Falcons ranked 29th in the league in rushing yards last year.
