Trevor Sasek, a 22-year-old fifth year senior quarterback for the Delaware Blue Hens, was stabbed Sunday morning at around 1:20 a.m. According to reports, Michael J. Creed, of Dixie Line Road in Newark, New Jersey, has been arrested for the assault.

Creed, 25, was involved in an argument when he stabbed Sasek multiple times and left him wounded, according to police. Sasek suffered three stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, officers discovered when they reached the injured Sasek in a parking lot of 54 East Delaware Avenue. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Creed was identified by surveillance footage taken during his argument with Sasek; in the video he is seen yelling at a group of people, of which Sasek was a member. As Sasek approached Creed, the suspect leaned into a car and then grabbed the quarterback by the shoulder and began "striking" him. Creed then fled on foot, which was when Sasek realized he'd been stabbed.

The University of Delaware is refusing to officially confirm that the victim of the attack was indeed Sasek. A University spokesperson said, "For privacy reasons, we're not confirming the identity of the victim. University officials have been in touch with the injured student and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery."

Creed is currently in custody and has been charged with first degree assault, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

Sasek, who stands six feet, six inches and 225 lbs. has played in 12 games over the last three seasons with Delaware. He has completed 48 of 81 pass attempts, or 59.3 percent of his passes, and thrown one touchdown to two interceptions. According to Philly.com, Sasek earned the starting spot in 2011, starting three games before sustaining a knee injury. Sasek has also been a threat on the ground, rushing 45 times for 116 yards and four scores.
