Tiger Woods is lurking near the top of the leaderboard in the PGA Tour's Players Championship that kicked off on Thursday. Woods is tied for third at 6-under par with Ryan Palmer. Follow along with all the Players Championship action for free by clicking this link.

Woods is off to a good start in Round 2 at 1-under par through five holes. Ahead of him in second place is Kevin Chappell, an American shooting 7-under par and 4-under through 11 holes today. Chappell is tied with Englishman Lee Westwood, who is 4-under on the afternoon through the first seven holes.

Roberto Castro is leading the pack after one day, at 9-under par. His electric 9-under-par performance tied the course record previously held by golf legends Fred Couples and Greg Norman.

Of course Woods is, and always will be the man with the target on his back. Traditionally very hard on himself, Woods wasn't too critical of his performance in the first round of the Players Championship.

"I thought I missed all the shots in the correct spots today and left myself some easier up-and-downs here,'' said Woods. "Up-and-downs aren't really too easy around here, but I left myself some good spots where I had a little bit of greens to work with and I made a couple key putts here there and I really took care of the par 5s. I birdied all of them today, which is nice.''

Thursday's showing marked the first time in 16 tries that Woods has opened the Players Championship with a round in the 60s. This is a tricky golf course,'' Woods said. "It doesn't take much to make a bogey around here. I think that's kind of what (designer) Pete (Dye) had intended, and I'm sure that most of the guys throughout their careers really haven't had too many other days that are spotless on their cards.''
