Chunky Cheerleader Responds To Critics Of Her Weight, Says She Is A Size 4

The Oklahoma City Thunder are facing adversity on the court, in the form of a Western Conference semifinal series that is tied at 1-1- and headed to Memphis, but the players are not the only ones under scrutiny. Kelsey Williams, a Thunder cheerleader, has found herself in the spotlight after a blogger called her "chunky."

During an interview with Good Morning America, Williams saw an article that cast her in a negative light. "I got online and was reading the article and . . . my heart sank," Williams said. "I was definitely embarrassed and just devastated."

The blogger, Claire Crawford wrote about Williams, saying, "[Williams] has been criticized by some folks in [Oklahoma] for having 'pudginess' around her waistline. Is this chick 'too chunky' to be a cheerleader?"

Crawford was not finished, continuing on to say, "But if she's comfortable wearing that tiny outfit and dancing for NBA fans, then good for her. Besides . . . not every man likes women to be toothpick skinny. I'd say most men prefer a little extra meat on her bones."

According to Us Weekly the offensive post has been deleted and Crawford's been dismissed. Williams scolded Crawford, saying, "Shame on you. I mean, you are a woman . . . you know exactly what we all go through on a daily basis just being a woman. Shame on you." Williams also told Good Morning America that she works out "three to four hours a day to wear a size four."

"I have always had more of an athletic build, different than the slender ballerina that some people may think of as a dancer," she explained. "That's just not me. Whatever's done is done, I'm just going to keep my chin up."

Like the Thunder, who lost Game 2 on their home floor and are playing without one of their leaders, point guard Russell Westbrook, Williams will need to block out criticism and continue forward.
