Former New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant, who was part of the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl team, has been fired from his position as a linebackers coach at Bowie State following the release of a video that shows him slamming a student in a gym.
Grant, 36, who spent his entire eight-year career with the Saints, finished his career with 47 sacks and 423 tackles. Unfortunately, on October 30, he picked the wrong setting to demonstrate his skills. He was listed at six feet and three inches and 283 pounds on ProFootballReference.com. His career peaked from 2003 to 2004, when he registered back-to-back seasons of 10-plus sacks, and recorded 135 of his 423 tackles.
A video leaked of Grant body slamming what has been confirmed to be a Bowie State student-athlete to the floor, for reasons unclear. Grant then tussled with the student and pushed him into the bleachers, where he held him down and yelled to never disrespect him.
Currently Grant isn't facing any charges for the slam, but Bowie State University police are investigating the incident.
"We've talked to the victim. We've interviewed witnesses. We have had several conversations with Mr. Grant over the phone, but nothing formal," a police representative told TMZ.
