Spike Lee, well-known New York Knicks superfan and award-winning film director has a long-standing history with current TNT analyst and former Knick-tormenter Reggie Miller. That's why Lee's videobomb of Miller during TNT's postgame coverage of the Knicks' 105-79 blowout of Indiana at Madison Square Garden is priceless.
Miller was a Hall of Fame sharpshooter for the Indiana Pacers who devastated all of Madison Square Garden in Game 1 of the 1995 Eastern Conference semifinals by scoring eight points in just nine seconds.
Lee has long bickered with Miller, dating back to 1994 when Miller's string of performances against the Knicks earned him the label of "Knick Killer," and coined the phrase "Miller Time" when referencing Knicks-Pacers matchups.
In Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Lee vociferously engaged Miller while he was on the court, in an effort to disrupt his focus. Miller consistently jawed back at Lee as he scored 39 points, including 25 in the final quarter. The Knicks would go on to win that series in seven games.
The next instance of "Miller Time" was the infamous nine-point barrage in Game 1 of the 1995 Eastern Conference semifinals. In that series, the Pacers were able to exact revenge and eliminate the Knicks in a seventh and deciding game. Indiana and New York renewed the rivalry in 1998, when the two squads faced off in the semifinals which Indiana won in five games. Miller averaged 19 points per game in that series and shot 40 percent from 3-point range.
Miller spent his entire 18-year career with the Pacers, and ended it with career averages of 18.2 points, three assists and three rebounds. He shot 47 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from beyond the arc. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
