After back-to-back victories the Saints have vaulted to the top of the NFC South and are feeling a lot better than they did just a few weeks ago. Things have changed pretty fast," defensive tackle Akiem Hicks said.
"Sometimes when you're going through it, not fast enough, but when you come out of it on the other side you say to yourself, 'Wow, we accomplished that in a few weeks' time and now we're in the position that we're in.'"
In the past two weeks quarterback Drew Brees has found a rhythm, throwing for 608 yards and four touchdowns against just one interception. Now, it's the 49ers hitting a rough patch and they're trying to avoid assigning blame.
"We have all the talent in the world," veteran left tackle Joe Staley said. "We've been doing some dumb stuff." Safety Eric Reid talked about staying together through this turbulent patch.
"You could point fingers at anybody," Reid said. "But that's not what we're going to do. We're going to keep our focus on making the playoffs. We have to keep being persistent."
They could use more production from quarterback Colin Kaepernick, whose passing numbers have been pedestrian in the consecutive losses. His rushing has disappeared-in the two losses he rushed for a combined 32 yards. On the season he's rushed for 274 yards without finding the end zone.
