NBC Sports sent out a press release early this afternoon regarding a "Major Talent Announcement" set to me made at 4:00 p.m. today. Speculation is running wild that the expected announcement is that Carrie Underwood will be replacing Faith Hill as the singer of Sunday Night Football's theme song. Sunday Night Football is the highest rated show on television, according to bigleadsports.com.

Monday night, Underwood tweeted the following message: "Just to let you know, we have some great news we'll be sharing tomorrow! I'm excited about it! Stay tuned."

Faith Hill had been singing Sunday Night Football's theme song for six years, but decided to leave last month. She tweeted to her fans, "Amazing 2 have been part of SNF- an honor. I've just let everyone there know it's time 2 let someone else rock the open.

When she left, Sunday Night Football producer Fred Gaudelli praised her profusely, leading many to believe the split was far from acrimonious. "Faith Hill is family to all of us at Sunday Night Football. For the last six seasons and two Super Bowls, her opening performance of 'Waiting All Day' set the tone for SNF and became a television staple. We will always be grateful for her performances and friendship. We wish Faith nothing but continued success."

Carrie Underwood has NFL ties to Dallas Cowboys lightning rod quarterback Tony Romo. Many fans believed Underwood's song Cowboy Casanova was about Romo, but she vehemently denied that in an interview with Esquire, saying, No. I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong," Underwood told the men's magazine. "I would never give him that much credit."

She went on to say ""Point blank, [Romo] is about football," she said. "I don't know if it's that I'm not quite his type or whatever, but I don't think he's at the point in his life where he would be willing to sacrifice football. He hated so much that people thought that he was paying more attention to me and that was causing him to not do well."
