The New York City Marathon was run Sunday afternoon, and some blazing times were recorded. Two Ethiopians finished in the Top 3 of the men's runners, but neither was able to top Kenya's Wilson Kipsang, who finished in an astounding 2:10:59.
The two Ethiopians, Lelisa Desisa Benti and Gebre Gebremariam came in right behind Kipsang with times of 2:11:06 and 2:12:13 for second and third place. The first American to cross the finish line was Meb Keflezighi of California, who finished in 2:13:18.

Mary Keitany finished in 2:25:07, while her compatriot Jemima Sumgong crossed the finish line a mere three tenths of a second later at 2:25:10. Aside from the professional runners, many other celebrities were running for a variety of charities and foundations. Actress Teri Hatcher ran for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, Katrina Bowden of 30 Rock ran to support Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,.
Athletes ran as well. Former Giants running back Tiki Barber and his wife Traci Johnson ran for the PitCCh In Foundation, which was co-founded by Yankees star CC Sabathia's wife Amber; she also ran the marathon. Power 105.1 radio host Angie Martinez ran as well to support PitCCh In, along with Alexis Welch, wife of Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire. Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki ran for New York Road Runners Team for Kids.
