Today at 1 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (0-2-0, zero points) and Boston Bruins (1-2-0, two points) take the ice for Columbus Day matinee action live from the TD Garden in Boston. The game can be live streamed here. Colorado fans can hear all of the action on KRWZ 500 while Boston fans can do the same on 93.7 WEEI.
Colorado is looking for its first victory -- and goal -- of the season while Boston is looking to snap a two-game skid. These teams split their season series last year with each club notching one victory apiece.
The Avalanche were blanked by the Minnesota Wild 5-0 in their season-opener last Wednesday and then were shutout again by their division foes 3-0 to complete the home-and-home. Colorado hopes to solve its scoring woes on a four-game road swing that starts today.
This afternoon marks the first time Jarome Iginla returns to Boston since he played for the Bruins and tied for the team lead with 30 goals in the 2013-14 season.
"It's early in the year, and it will probably feel like I was just there," Iginla told the Avalanche's website. "For myself and my family, it was a fun [season] last year. It was a great experience."
The Bruins haven't been lighting the lamp with the ease that most thought they would thus far as they have three goals in their first three games. Center David Krejci (undisclosed) may return to the lineup for the first time on the campaign.
"Every day [is] better," Krejci told NHL.com on Sunday. "Today was a pretty good day, so hopefully [I'll] wake up [Monday] and feel good enough to play. But we got to wait till [Monday]."
Patrice Bergeron, Chris Kelly and Reilly Smith are the only three members of Boston to find the back of the net thus far this season.
In net, Colorado will likely turn to Semyon Varlamov, who is 0-2 with a 4.33 goals-against average and .901 save percentage while Boston turns to Tuukka Rask, who is 1-2 with a 2.36 GAA and a .892 save percentage.
The Avalanche and Bruins engage in matinee action when they take the ice this afternoon at the TD Garden in Boston.
