LeBron James of the Miami Heat is in high demand, but good luck reaching him during the postseason. For the second straight season, James is ridding himself of the distraction his phone presents for the duration of the postseason, which James is surely hoping will be a long while.
He started doing this last season and there's no reason to give up the new tradition; James took home his first NBA title last year. When TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager asked James about sacrificing cell phone use during the playoffs, James jokingly said, "I can use yours?' So there it is, I'll use yours. ... I'm back before cell phones were invented.''
LeBron has also vowed to stay off Twitter. According to Yahoo! Sport, James' last tweet was last Saturday when he said, "Zero Dark Thirty-6 Activated! I'm gone.''
The decisions to cut the cord on his phone use and Twitter presence are further indications of the sea change James has undergone since entering the league. Yahoo! Sports said he has even ditched his pregame chalk toss for the most part, clearly showing he's all business.
His new approach has helped him reach incredibly dominant heights this season. He averaged 26.8 points per game in the 2012-2013 regular season, the third-fewest of his career. However, he's taking less shots than ever and making them at a 57 percent clip. He is averaging his second-most assists per game (7.3) and more rebounds than ever before (8.0).
In the first two games of this postseason against the Milwaukee Bucks, which Bucks' guard Brandon Jennings laughably predicted would end with a Bucks triumph in six games, James is averaging 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. He is scoring those 23 points on a mere 12.5 shots a night, and he's connecting at a 60 percent rate.
