Boston Celtics Rumors: Rajon Rondo Situation, Expected Struggles Will Benefit Young Celtics In The Future [VIDEO]

The Boston Celtics registered one of their worst seasons in recent memory last season, but many within the organization believe the struggles of 2013-14 will pay dividends in 2014-15 and beyond.

Celtics assistant coach Walter McCarty spoke to ESPN over the weekend and said that the team’s 25-win campaign has left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth. Those struggles of last season will prompt the team to play better as to avoid those feelings again.

Rajon Rondo for Roy Hibbert Trade in the Works?

"I think having that year is going to help us out a lot," McCarty said "It kinda let us know what we need to work on, where we need to go from last season, what are some of our strengths with our players, and what schemes work for us. (Last year), not really knowing that, it was kinda tough. We had to learn things on the fly. But I think we have a good grasp of what it is that we want to do defensively and offensively. Starting out in training camp, we’ll be able to establish some really good habits and move from there.”

The Celtics are entering the 2014-15 season with many question marks as to where the franchise is heading. They had been rumored to be the favorites for power forward Kevin Love before he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and now All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo is rumored to want out of town.

Rockets, Kings Chasing Rajon Rondo

The Celtics will have many questions to ask when the season tips off, but they do look to be a better team on paper than in 2013-14. Boston will have Rondo to start the season, as well as young talent in the form of Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger, Avery Bradley and rookies Marcus Smart and James Young.

The Celtics finished 25-57 last season and uses their two first-round picks to draft Smart and Young.
