NFL Schedule Announcement: League Will Release Schedule On Thursday

The NFL will announce the 2013 regular-season schedule Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, league spokesman Greg Aiello announced through his Twitter account. The announcement will include the highly anticipated season opener featuring the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.

The Ravens will open the season on the road due to a scheduling conflict with the Baltimore Orioles, who were already scheduled to play the Chicago White Sox at 7:05 p.m. ET on that date. Both teams, the NFL and Major League Baseball were unable to reach a compromise regarding the parking conflicts that would have been raised by both games taking place at once as both franchises share the same parking areas for fans.

Baltimore will also face the Denver Broncos on the road in a rematch from the AFC Divisional playoff round, which includes newly-acquired linebacker Elvis Dumervil's return to Denver. The Ravens also face the New England Patriots in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game, although this time at their home field.

Other intriguing matchups include Peyton Manning's long awaited return to Indianapolis as a member of the Denver Broncos. Manning will also face off against his brother, Eli Manning, when the Broncos visit the New York Giants.

Also included is Andy Reid's return to Philadelphia in his first appearance as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs since getting fired from the Eagles in December.
