Eddie Lacy 40 Time: Eddie Lacy Runs 4.59 40-Yard Dash At Alabama Pro Day

Eddie Lacy, the Alabama running back often confused with a runaway freight train, ran his 40-yard dash at the Alabama pro day, clocking in times of 4.59 and 4.62, according to reports.

Lacy did not run at the Scouting Combine due to a small tear in his hamstring suffered during a mock combine training session in February. Lacy is the highest-rated running back in the 2013 draft class, according to Scouts Inc.

An AFC scout said of Lacy, "He's proven he's a good back the way he played all season," the scout said. "The main thing was to see how the hamstring was doing, and he's obviously done a lot of work on that."

As a junior for the Crimson Tide, Lacy carried the rock 204 times, rushing for 1,322 yards and a staggering 17 touchdowns in a season that ended with a national championship. In the BCS title game against Notre Dame, who entered with run-stuffing Heisman candidate Manti Te'o, Lacy powered his way to a 140-yard, one-touchdown performance.

Aside from proving that he has NFL speed and is more than a goal-line battering ram, Lacy said he wants to prove to NFL scouts and front office personnel that he can catch the ball out of the backfield.

"I didn't have a lot of opportunities here at Alabama to show my hands out of the backfield, so during the passing drills I just wanted to show them I can catch," Lacy said. "I did good. I probably bobbled a pass or two, but everything else was caught clean." In 2012, Lacy caught 22 passes for 189 yards and two scores.

His Alabama head coach, Nick Saban, praised Lacy's ability and pro prospects. "He's faster than you think," he said of his former All-SEC back. "He has very deceptive speed, and very deceptive quickness. For three or four years around here, I've been watching Eddie Lacy, who everybody thinks is a little too straight-line as a runner, and can't make people miss, make people miss in the hole, with his sudden quickness and great change of direction."
