Batista took some time off from the WWE to promote Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie that is in theatres everywhere, and was originally rumored to return in time for Sunday night's SummerSlam. Though he didn't appear at the biggest event of the summer, his return to WWE action is said to be imminent.
"The Animal" accepted the ice bucket challenge after his Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Chris Pratt challenged him.

"So apparently Chris Pratt has called me out and challenged me to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge," Batista said in the video. "There's two things you need to know about me. The first thing is Lou Gehrig is my absolute hero and I have the tattoo to prove it. [Pointing to his arm] "This is his number four and his signature. And the second thing you need to know about me is I've been a professional wrestler since 2000, so ice is like a religion to me. No big deal baby, ice is what I do."
Batista then immersed himself in a bathtub filled with ice.
"Not gonna lie this is pretty cold, this is not pleasant," Batista said after submerging himself. "But I'm gonna do this in support of ALS. And now for the fun part, I get to call out people."
"The Animal" ten proceeded to call out his friend James Gunn, his agency stable mate Gina Carano and professional boxer Nonito Donaire Jr.
"Bask in it," Batista said as more ice was dumped over his head. "It's for a good cause."
Batista isn't the only WWE personality to take a cold bath as WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon and Triple H both took part in the challenge as well over the weekend:
