The Minnesota Timberwolves are beginning to lean toward trading Kevin Love as it becomes more apparent that the All-Star forward will not return in free agency. The Timberwolves have started to point out potential players they would want in return for Love and see Philadelphia 76ers Thaddeus Young as a top target.
Clippers Threaten to Boycott 2014-15 Season
Minnesota is exploring options to land Young and they have no preference to how they do it. They would like for Young to be involved in a Love trade, but are also open to a completely separate transaction with the 76ers.
76ers general manager Sam Hinkie has said that he expects Young to be in Philadelphia’s starting lineup this coming season, but would be open to trade if the deal was attractive enough. Young has two years remaining on his contract which includes a player option for the 2015-16 season.
Carmelo Anthony Seriously Considered Chicago
Sources tell ESPN that Minnesota favors the Andrew Wiggins-led trade proposal from the Cleveland Cavaliers, but acquiring Young would be the icing on the cake for the Timberwolves. The Cavaliers have to wait at least 30 days to trade Wiggins since he signed his rookie deal with the team last week.
Thaddeus Young averaged 17.9 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
Timberwolves have discussed a trade with the Sixers where Thaddeus Young would be headed to Minnesota. Kevin Love would not be involved.

The news about Thaddeus Young I'm told is because #cavs are pushing for 3 way. Need Philly to be involved to sweeten deal up, per source — Believeland Insider (@Believeland24x7) July 28, 2014
