Chris Davis Home Runs: Baltimore Orioles Chris Davis Becomes Fourth MLB Player To Homer In First Four Games Of Season

Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles is on a hot streak that is reaching historical heights. Davis smacked a grand slam in the eighth inning of the Orioles' 9-5 win over the Minnesota Twins and became just the fourth player in baseball history to hit a home run in each of his first four games of the season.

Davis' grand slam in the eighth inning changed a 5-5 tie into a 9-5 Orioles lead, which would prove to be the final score. Davis is the hottest hitter in the major leagues in the early stages of 2013, and his teammates are impressed.

Center fielder Adam Jones said, "If you put him in the Grand Canyon, he'll hit it out. Whatever he's doing, stick to it. Show up tomorrow and do it again."

Davis is remaining humble throughout his power surge though, saying after the game, "I don't feel like I have anything magical," he said. "I feel comfortable and I feel like I'm being patient. I'm taking what they give me." Davis was 2-for-4 on the night, with five RBI.

Orioles starter Jake Arrieta struggled through his outing, lasting just five innings and giving up seven hits and five runs in that time. The Baltimore bullpen stepped up, however, cobbling together the next four innings without surrendering a run. That work allowed the Orioles offense to rip off five runs in the eighth and steal the win from Minnesota.

While the big eighth inning was exciting, the story of the game was surely Davis' history-making blast.

Tyler Robertson, the Twins reliever who surrendered the homer said, "Leave the ball up to a guy, especially when they're hot, they're going to hit it hard sometime," Robertson said. "He barely swung and he hit that ball. He's just on fire right now. He's seeing it good. It's easy to say I should have went with a breaking ball, but if I get that fastball down, I think I'm OK, too."
