In total, day seven of the 2014 World Cup saw 11 goals and one potential candidate for goal of the tournament. Australia’s Tim Cahill, Chile’s Eduardo Vargas and Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic were just a few of the players responsible for Wednesday’s onslaught of offensive efficiency.

Goals: Australia—Cahill 21' Jedinak 54' (penalty); Holland—Robben 20' Persie 58' Depay 68'
An enthralling 90 minutes saw Holland capture a much-needed 3-2 victory over Australia on Wednesday. Arjen Robben scorched the terrain in the 20th minute and beat goalkeeper Maty Ryan to the far post. Australia answered just seconds after the restart. A pristine volley from Tim Cahill rattled off the crossbar and in, leveling the affair. The entertainment continued in the second half. Captain Mile Jedinak gave Australia the 2-1 lead—thanks to a gifted penalty—only to see Robin van Persie equalize four minutes later. Memphis Depay delivered the match-winner for Holland in the 68th minute.

Goals: Chile—Vargas 20' Aranguiz 43'
Chile was able to capture a 2-0 victory over Spain on Wednesday, eliminating the defending champions in the first round of the tournament. A swarming Chilean side pounced to a 1-0 victory thanks to poor defending and a strike from Eduardo Vargas. Charles Aranguiz would double La Roja’s advantage just before the half.

Goals: Croatia—Olic 11’ Perisic 48’ Mandzukic 61’, 73’
Croatia captured its first points of the 2014 World Cup, undressing Cameroon 4-0 in Manaus. An early goal from Ivica Olic was enough to eliminate Cameroon from the tournament. Goals from Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic sealed the comprehensive win.
