Minnesota Vikings Rumors: Teddy Bridgewater Content With Backup Role? [VIDEO]

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Teddy Bridgewater to be the future of the franchise at quarterback. The story of 2014 will be when this quarterback class will see the field as both the Jaguars and Vikings plan on sitting their rookies throughout the season. Bridgewater believes whatever is best for the team is what he supports this season.

Bridgewater is saying all the right things at Vikings camp and continues to preach patience as he works toward getting his shot to be the guy in Minnesota.

“It’s not tough at all because I have nothing but my best interest for the team,” Bridgewater said. “And I’m very excited about this team that we have here. …If I’m not the guy then I know the coaches have the best interest for the team also. My teammates also have the best interest for the team. So in order for me to be a better player, I have to have the best interest for the team and want nothing but the best interest for the team.”

The Vikings traded back into the first round to draft Bridgewater and want him to eventually be the franchise quarterback that has eluded them for so long. Currently the quarterback battle in Viking camp is between Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder for who will keep the seat warm for Bridgewater.

Bridgewater was once considered the top prospect at the quarterback position before a miserable Pro Day crushed any chance of him being the first quarterback off the board. The Louisville product was on the verge of dropping into the second round before the Vikings nabbed him at No. 31 overall in order to secure the right to exercise a fifth year option if Teddy pans out.
