At No. 10 overall the Detroit Lions have selected North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron.
Pros:
- Elite Speed
- Elite athleticism
- Versatile
- Creates mismatches
- Rare talent
Cons:
- Blocking
- Has periods where hands betray him
- Too many defensive needs in Detroit
- Luxury pick
- Can have an ego at times
Analysis: The Lions continue to build one of the league's best offenses by adding the dynamic tight end in Ebron. Ebron will step in right away and be a great compliment to Brandon Pettigrew and will be a better second option for Matthew Stafford than Golden Tate. The Lions have a lot of needs on defense and most of them lie in the secondary so this isn't a great pick.
If the Lions address the defense in the rest of the draft, this could be a pick we look back on in five years and say it put the Lions defense over the top. The Lions have the right idea in this pass happy NFL, but of they gove up 55 points a game how often can they score 56?
Grade: B
Love Ebron’s potential here , but with so many holes in the defense it is hard to be 100% sold this is the direction the Lions should have gone in.
