With the No. 2 overall pick the St. Louis Rams select Auburn offensive tackle, Greg Robinson
Pros:
- Elite first punch
- Elite quickness
- Great run-blocker
- Freak athlete
- Locker room guy
- Feet
Cons:
- Raw
- Pass protection can be improved
- Worth passing on Sammy Watkins?
Analysis: Robinson, along with Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan, is considered a can’t miss prospect at offensive tackle. Robinson made the jump early in the draft process past the other two tackles and became the undisputed top prospect. Robinson is raw and needs to be coached up, but if he responds to the coaching he will end up being the best tackle in the draft.
The Rams take a risk by tacking a tackle in a big playmaker draft, but this is the type of move that keeps you in contention for years. Looking into offensive playmakers should be the Rams’ next move at No. 13 and if Odell Beckham is still available that will most likely be the move. The Rams have also been rumored to love Haha Clinton-Dix for a few months now and if he sneaks out of the top 10 the Rams could jump all over him.
Grade: A-
This is a great pick for the Rams and my only issue with it is that Sammy Watkins could be the next big thing at receiver. The Rams also couldn't trade out of this spot which is disappointing.
Other Picks:
1. Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney
