Transfer rumors and Luis Suarez have been married since the beginning of time. As hyperbolic as that statement reads, it doesn't negate the fact that the reigning Players' Football Association Player of the Year has strongly been linked with a summer transfer to Spanish outfit Real Madrid.
Real Madrid Planning £70 Million Bid For Luis Suarez?
Liverpool supporters will be forced to spend another transfer window stressing the possibilities of Suarez exiting Anfield.
The Uruguayan, however, is singing a different tune in 2014—one that will ease the tension in Merseyside.
Facing the possibility of a transfer to Arsenal in 2013, Suarez was very critical of the club's brass, admonishing them for not allowing his departure (h/t to the Guardian). "Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season, I'd be allowed to go," he revealed.
"I gave absolutely everything last season, but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish."
"Now, all I want is for Liverpool to honor our agreement."
Fast forward to today. Despite facing the possibility of a transfer to Real Madrid—a club he considers to be at the summit of his dreams—Suarez is pledging his loyalty to the Reds (h/t to Pro Soccer Talk). "Don't worry, nothing is going to happen to me," he said.
"I'm very happy here and my family is happy here. If we could win the Premier League and bring the trophy home, it would be incredible, a dream come true."
