Anthony Davis out for season: Back spasms KO Unibrow, Pelicans tanking? [VIDEO]

New Orleans Pelicans' emerging big man Anthony Davis is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the NBA season with ongoing back spasms.

According to ProBasketballTalk.com, Davis was examined by team physicians earlier this week and the diagnosis was made he would need up to two weeks of rest and treatment to recuperate. The Pelicans have only four regular season games remaining and have been eliminated from playoff consideration.

The team also announced guard Eric Gordon will sit for the team's last four games as he recovers from a left knee injury that will require arthroscopic surgery sometime next week.

In all all, Davis has missed 15 games this season due to nagging injuries to go along with the 18 he sat out last season, prompting some to wonder if his thin, 7-0, 250 pound frame can withstand the constant NBA pounding of a frontcourt player.

Meanwhile, Gordon's luck hasn't been much better as he's now missed 18, 40, 57, 16 and 20 games each over the last five seasons.

Davis has averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds and two assists this year, while Gordon has endured a tough season, averaging just 15 points and three assists.
