Tonight at 10:10 p.m. ET the Detroit Tigers (4-1) will head west to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (5-2) in an interleague clash between two of the favorites to make the World Series. Max Scherzer (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will toe the rubber for Detroit while Dan Haren (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will pitch for the Dodgers.

This is a matchup of stars, with Miguel Cabrera, the reigning two-time MVP and 2012 Triple Crown winner in Detroit's corner, and hotshot outfielder Yasiel Puig plying his trade in L.A. Puig may not be ready to go in this series, however, as he is battling thumb trouble and irked manager Don Mattingly by showing up late to Opening day.

If Puig is slowed, returning outfielder Matt Kemp may be fit to fill the void. Kemp has hit .273 with two home runs and four RBIs in the three games he's played in since returning from a knee injury. They'll hope to have Puig and Kemp both available though, with reigning Cy Young Scherzer opposing them.

"It always feels good to hit home runs here in Dodger Stadium, especially with the home crowd," Kemp said. "It has been a while, so I was pretty excited to do that. It can be tough to hit home runs here at times, but it looked like the ball was carrying a little bit tonight."

Historically, Scherzer's been beat around a little by the Dodgers-he's 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA in five career starts, and will have the added distraction of batting. When interleague play comes this early in the season, you've got to get rid of your golf swing," Scherzer said.

"I've got to realize that I'm not coming around the ball anymore -- I'm staying inside the ball."
