Today at 3:00 p.m. ET the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series motors on from Texas, where a new/old face has taken the pole over a name that has become a regular in the Top 3 positions. Watch the race on Fox or live stream it free by clicking this link.

Tony Stewart is one of the premier names in racing, but Brad Keselowski has been a regular at the top of the grid these days. Keselowski clocked in at second during qualifying, but Stewart flashed his prime form in taking the pole for the Sprint Cup Series from Texas.

"It was cool. I'm not normally a qualifier," Stewart said. Keselowski gave him all the credit, expressing some surprise at his fantastic run. "Stewart put down a great lap at the end, didn't see that one coming," Keselowski said. "That's why they do it this way. Really exciting and a lot of fun to watch, and quite honestly, a lot of fun to participate in this new format of qualifying."

Stewart's teammate Kevin Harvick will begin the race in third position, and commented on the name value Stewart gives as a pole sitter as well as what it means for Stewart-Haas Racing. "Tony capturing the pole is as good as it gets for the organization," Harvick said. "That's a huge improvement for where we've been as a company the last few weeks."

While Stewart, an old stalwart, was busy blazing the track, six-time NASCAR champ Jimmie Johnson didn't even make it to the final round of qualifying.

"We're really surprised not to have pace here in qualifying," Johnson said. "We have a very fast race car, in race trim especially. Our car is blazing fast. Qualifying hasn't always been my strong suit, and today it showed up here for whatever reason.

"We'll get her cleaned up and get her ready for the race on Sunday."
